Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 update

アップグレードのインストール中、Localeの生成でつまずいて固まった。再起動したらセッションにログインできなくなっていたので弱ったが、同じ症状がフォーラムに報告されていた。

とりあえず、

Reboot your box, and press ESC to enter the GRUB menu

Select the previous version of the kernel xxx.14 rather than xxx.15 (sorry I can't recall the exact version numbers) - don't select the fail-safe mode.

Log-in as your admin user into recovery mode

Manually (re)start the upgrade via a terminal session: dpkg --configure -a

が動いた。
その後、一瞬セッションが立ち上がったように見えたが、アップデートウィンドウが現れた後、すべて巻き込んで消え去ってしまった。Ctrl+DEL+BackSpaceは利くんだがどうしようもない。と思ったが、よく考えたら再起動してなかったので、普通に再起動してみたら直ってた。一安心。
